Personal Responsibility Points (PR)
Personal responsibility, particularly as it relates to study skills, is taking charge of one’s own learning. It implies completing assignments on time, studying for tests, taking the responsibility for one’s own mistakes and performing to the best of one’s ability. Personal responsibility recognizes the importance of parents and teachers as learning partners, but puts the student in charge.
Your child will receive PR points when these responsibilities are broken. Some actions will be an automatic PR point (disrespect, bad language, hitting, fighting, discipline ticket from playground, etc.). 10 total PR points or 8 in a single category will disqualify students from the trimester reward trip (any suspensions will disqualify students as well). With every PR point your student receives, a note will be sent home that requires a parent signature. This note will also give the total number of PR points your student has that trimester. We will implement this system beginning on September 4th, and records will refresh at the start of every new trimester.

We will also have a classroom clip chart. Students will be asked to clip down for any classroom misconduct, outside of classroom misconduct and breaking classroom rules. Students also have the opportunity to clip up throughout the day. A student can clip up by S.O.A.R.I.N.G. (Displaying self control, being on task, achieving, and showing respect).
Birthdays:
Room 15 loves to celebrate birthdays! According to school policy, we are allowed to celebrate birthdays on Friday afternoons from 2:00 to 2:15. Feel free to send in store bought treats, but please keep in mind that we do have students with nut allergies. If you would like to bring treats for your student's birthday please check our class size, as it changes frequently throughout the school year.
Homework:
Homework is assigned daily except for Friday's. You can find the assigned homework on the weekly homework agenda.
Homework typically consists of a spelling packet that has homework for each night. Students must complete the daily spelling page each day. Homework also includes a reading assignment and math assignment, these are assigned daily. I will be checking that students complete their nightly homework each day. If a student does not complete their homework they will have to attend time out during recess and they will recieve a PR point.
You will also find a weekly behavior chart for your reference. This will allow you to see where you child ended up on the clip chart each day. The colors are as follows:
Students start out each day at: Ready to learn = Green
Outstanding! = Purple Excellent Choices = Light Blue Great Effort = Dark Blue
Think about it = Yellow Make better choices (No Recess) = Orange Parent Contact = Red
